I’ve been covering the Antibiotic resistance epidemic (AMR) for at least a decade, and it remains a critical global health threat, with projections indicating that by 2050, resistant infections could cause nearly 2 million deaths annually, a significant increase from current figures.
In the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that over 2.8 million antibiotic-resistant infections occur each year, leading to at least 35,000 deaths. The COVID-19 p!andemic has exacerbated the situation, with increased antibiotic use during the pandemic contributing to a rise in resistant infections.
Addressing AMR requires a multifaceted approach, including improving infection prevention and control measures, enhancing antibiotic stewardship, and investing in new antibiotics and diagnostic tools.
Superbugs are on track to kill 39 million people. And another study finds that the superbug crisis will likely kill millions by 2050.
Exposure Exhaustion
I grew up in Montreal, Canada, in the 70s and was given antibiotics like candy. Humans exposed to antibiotics as children (like myself) face adverse effects, less diverse bacteria, and compromised resistance decades after being exposed to antibiotics.
I am allergic to most antibiotics. The last time I took one, I almost died of Steven Johnson Syndrome. Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) is a rare, severe skin reaction that can be triggered by infections, medications, or even vaccinations. It causes the skin to blister and peel, often beginning with flu-like symptoms before progressing to painful, widespread rashes. The condition can be life-threatening, affecting mucous membranes and internal organs.
As for Steven Johnson, the name refers to the two doctors, Albert Stevens and Frank Johnson, who first described the condition in the 1920s. Their work in understanding this rare disorder has helped doctors identify and treat it more effectively, although SJS remains a medical emergency when it strikes.
In the end, I took HoneyColony’s Silver Excelsior, and I actually had to take prednisone for a short while. It occurred during the Plandemic, and despite multiple urges to go to the hospital, I did NOT want to step into a killing field.
The use of antibiotics has also been shown to disrupt gut microbiota significantly. When gut health declines, so does mental health. Studies have shown that gut bacteria manufacture about 95% of the body's supply of serotonin, which plays a huge role in mood and GI activity.
"The overuse of antibiotics in human medicine and as cheap production tools on farms is undoing our ability to cure bacterial infections...Of particular concern is the large reservoir of genes conferring resistance to aminoglycosides, a class of antibiotics to which C. difficile is intrinsically resistant—they are not needed for resistance in this species. C. difficile thus plays a role in spreading these genes to other susceptible species."
Most of us have been exposed to antibiotics, to begin with. So, If you're in doubt, start with the gut and start with simple gestures.
Here Are TOP 6 Gut Health Tips
Don't eat within three hours before bed. Sleeping on an empty stomach helps your gut and brain communicate better, promoting better regeneration.
Avoid processed carbohydrates like sugar, wheat, pasta, bread, and other fake foods containing empty calories and chemicals.
Eat fermented foods — Sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, miso, tempeh, and natural yogurt are excellent sources. Unless your Viome gut profile says otherwise, like mine, I am personally dealing with a histamine issue at the moment, and you may be, too.
Take quality probiotics — The extra bacterial diversity will help clear the flu season and other low-level threats.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate with clean water. Try adding Molecular Hydrogen for deep hydration and regeneration.
Avoid antibiotics unless it is a medical emergency. Instead, use natural antimicrobials that protect against infections and harmful bacteria without compromising the gut. Our top choice is Silver Excelsior, 400 times stronger than colloidal silver and 200 times more bioavailable due to chelation. It's perfect for travel as you only need a few drops against any bacterial emergency, even food poisoning.
