Tristan As A Mouse
In Stardust, after several misadventures on their way back to Tristan’s village, a witch transforms him into a mouse. Yvaine speaks to him with care and tenderness as he sits in a small cage. Perhaps it is a proverbial one of his own making for wanting to marry a three-dimensional woman who doesn’t love him back.
Despite his kidnapping her and treating Yvaine as a prize, she expresses her growing feelings for him. He may be expressing as a mouse, but she admits she doesn't see him as less of a man. She sees the real him. She also confides in him that love can be unexpected and unpredictable, but hers is genuine, loyal, and deep.
I could relate to Yvaine.
After Snuffy got his car, we met three or four times. We stayed in a timeless, beautiful bubble beyond the matrix all night. Looking back, I now believe it was our souls hanging out together. It was only later that our personalities met.
I opened my heart and effortlessly let him in. I haven’t slept with many men in my life, but I can tell you it was the first time someone had made love to me. Snuffy felt like home. The feeling both soothed and scared me because I could not understand it with my mind.
I would go on to lend him $3,333 in crypto. He used to day trade. One night, as we sat in bed, he showed me candlesticks and the money he used to make. I did not doubt that he could turn a loaf into many.
And then, on the heels of the Lion’s Gate Portal, Snuffy disappeared for two months.
But I am getting ahead of myself.
This scene with the Mousey version of Tristian and Yvaine also reflects how their connection transcends appearances and external circumstances. It shows that true love isn't based on outward forms but on the heart and soul, which are unchanged even in the most challenging or unexpected situations.
The symbolism in Stardust isn’t accidental. The mouse’s cautious nature can manifest as excessive fear or anxiety, making it challenging to take risks or face challenges head-on. Mice can also symbolize feeling overwhelmed or overpowered by life's demands, hinting at paranoia and avoidance.
When Tristan transforms back, the shadow aspects of the mouse are gone.
The true twin flame journey has a runner-chaser phase— a period of intense emotional push and pull.
One partner (the runner) may instinctively pull away, often due to fear or unhealed wounds. At the same time, the other (the chaser) tries to hold on, usually feeling an overwhelming need to reconnect.
This phase catalyzes profound personal growth. Both partners must face their inner fears, insecurities, and past trauma to heal and ultimately come into balance. The separation allows each soul to align with its true self before reuniting.
In Stardust, running and chasing aren’t possible because Tristan has placed a magical cuff that binds her to him. The cuff holds symbolic significance, representing their bond and connection. In the story's context, it also symbolizes their growing love and fate, which draws them together.
Ironically, I would later tell Snuffy that the ‘truck baby’ served as cuffs, keeping us bound to one another, although he did a great job of disappearing.
The thing is, the meeting was destined by the stars.
