To learn more about Derek Chauvin’s stabber “John Turscak” and his dealings with the FBI, I spent my weekend combing through court documents. Turscak, who is half Croatian and half Mexican, led a faction of the Mexican Mafia — EME— in the Los Angeles area in the late 1990s, going by the nickname “Stranger.” After being released from Pelican Bay State Prison, he was recruited as an FBI informant. Between January 1999 to April 1999, he was paid a total of $2000 per month to consult with “FBI handlers.” Incidentally, before 1999, Turscak was assisting the FBI in an undercover capacity ‘without a written agreement."‘
